Rescue Dog and Newborn Strike Up Adorable Friendship: "Something Special"

From terrified stray to baby's best friend—the astonishing transformation of a rescue dog has gone viral on TikTok.

The heartwarming video posted by @elizaandmacy showcases the life of a rescue dog whose faith in humanity has been restored.

Over 576,000 people have watched the video of Eliza's transformation and the adorable bond she now has with owner Annie Morgan's baby boy, Franklin.

The video of the duo has pulled on users' heartstrings and has been liked more than 67,000 times since being posted on September 22. You can watch the video here.

Morgan has added text to the video, explaining that she adopted Eliza in 2020 and the dog had "almost given up." During this clip, Eliza is shaking and afraid to look up.

It is followed by a clip of Eliza in the shelter with the text, "Humans had failed her she needed lots of love."

In the next clip, Eliza appears to be a different dog as she laps up all the love from Morgan, who said she had "healed physically and emotionally."

Eliza clearly has a lot of love to give despite her ordeal, as she is seen doting on her new human soulmate.

Morgan points out that she is "never far from his side," with a series of videos to illustrate their bond that seemingly started when she was pregnant with Franklin.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters nationwide every year. Of those, about 3.1 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Each year, approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized, of which 390,000 are dogs and 530,000 are cats.

The number of dogs and cats euthanized in U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 2.6 million in 2011. This decline is partially explained by an increase in the percentage of animals adopted and an increase in the number of stray animals successfully returned to their owners.

The ASPCA has also revealed that 4.1 million shelter animals like Eliza are adopted yearly.

TikTok users have praised Morgan for adopting Eliza and thanked her for sharing the story.

The top comment, which received over 1,000 likes, said: "They (rescue dogs) have an amazing way of showing up when we need them the most!"

Another wrote: "This made me cry. thank you for adopting that beautiful girl."
Many others commented to say, "thank you for saving her."
