A resurfaced blooper from Sesame Street featuring the beloved muppet Elmo and the late actor Robin Williams has gone viral on Reddit since it was posted, receiving more than 21,000 votes.

Shared by u/druule on Reddit's "Unexpected" forum, the 31-second long clip, titled "Elmo just died inside," showed Elmo calling Robin Williams the wrong name.

Elmo made his first appearance on Sesame Street in 1984 and has been a major part of the show's history. In addition to his typical appearance on the show, Elmo was also featured in segments discussing more serious issues.

For example, Whoopi Goldberg and Elmo talked about the colors and textures of their skin and fur in a segment from 1990, according to Sesame Street's website.

Since the show's debut in 1969, a number of other topics were explored, including racial justice, understanding autism and the September 11 attacks.

The video clip shared on Reddit was a blooper from a 1991 episode in which Robin Williams shared how someone can use their imagination when playing with a stick.

Although Elmo is meant to thank Williams, he thanked "Mr. Robins."

Williams paused for a moment and clarified that he heard Elmo correctly.

"Mr. Robins?" Williams asked as Elmo seemingly realized his mistake. "I'm taking the stick back, Elmo."

The furry red monster then folded into himself and sank behind the platform he sat on before peeking over the side.

"I only had three lines!" Elmo explained before the video ended.

This isn't the first time Elmo has gone viral. His notable feud with Rocco, the pet rock belonging to fellow muppet Zoe, also caused a stir on the internet recently. Videos have chronicled this longstanding feud between the two over the years. These clips show the different moments Elmo has gotten frustrated with Rocco.

A video clip that was tweeted by @wumbooty, showed Zoe refusing to let Elmo take Rocco's cookie. He has an outburst, exclaiming, "Rocco's a rock, Zoe. Rocco won't know the difference."

This clip involving Elmo and Williams has circulated on social media before.

In 2019, GBH, the PBS station licensed to Boston, quote tweeted another user's tweet that remembered the legacy of Williams on his birthday (July 21) and wrote, "This blooper clip of Robin Williams leaving @elmo dumbstruck on a 1991 episode of @sesamestreet is everything! #RIPRobinWilliams"

Redditor u/druule10 told Newsweek they shared the clip as a reminder of a man who made them smile.

"He went through so much but was always making everyone around him laugh," the Redditor said.

Commenters under the Reddit post weighed in on Elmo's slip-up, which made u/druule10 feel like they were not the only one who missed and appreciated Robin Williams.
