The Righteous Gemstones is back to spread the word of God with Season 2 which begins on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday January 9, 2022
All of the main cast from Season 1 are returning for the new episodes, with some new additions added to spice things up. Danny McBride created and stars in The Righteous Gemstones as Jesse, one member of the televangelist family the Gemstones who preach Christianity from their megachurch.

When will The Righteous Gemstones air and how many episodes?
The Righteous Gemstones returns to HBO and HBO Max on Sunday January 9, 2022, with two new episodes airing on the same day.
The first episode of the new series, "I Speak in the Tongues of Men and Angels" begins at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT while the second installment, Episode 2, "After I Leave, Savage Wolves Will Come," begins immediately afterwards at 10:55 p.m. ET/PT. The episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Like Season 1, Season 2 will be comprised of nine episodes in total. After the premiere double bill, each episode will air weekly every Sunday until the season finale on February 27, 2022.

What happens in The Righteous Gemstones Season 2?
We delve a little deeper into the backstory of Dr. Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) in the opening episode of Season 2, where we discover a violent past that catches up with him. A figure from his previous life, played by Eric Roberts, reunites with Eli and instantly gets him in trouble. Elsewhere a journalist arrives on the scene (played by Jason Schwartzman) to investigate one of the Gemstone family members.
Jesse and Amber (McBride & Cassidy Freeman) get sucked in by rival televangelists Lyle and Lindy Lissons, played by Eric Andre and Jessica Lowe, respectively. They offer the Gemstone family a lucrative but pricey proposal.
The Season 2 trailer shows that the likes of McBride, Goodman, Freeman, Edi Patterson, Adam DeVine, Tony Cavalero and Walter Goggins all return.
