Rihanna is getting roasted on social media following reports that embattled leading man Johnny Depp will appear at her upcoming Savage X Fenty fashion show.

TMZ broke the news early Thursday of the supposed collab between the two mega-celebs. Depp is slated to be the center of a "star" moment at the Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 event, making him the first man in the brand's history to do so, per TMZ. He'll also don certain offerings from Savage X Fenty's men's collection.

Previous star moments have featured musician Erykah Badu and supermodel Cindy Crawford, TMZ noted.

Sources told TMZ that Depp had been welcomed by Rihanna and company to participate in the event and that the movie star's role has already been filmed. It's set to be part of the November 9 premiere on Amazon Prime Video, with Depp's guest spot cast in a "cool and chic" light.

Each camp was also reportedly "super excited to make it happen," according to TMZ.

Depp has been embroiled in controversy following his very-public divorce and legal skirmishes with ex-wife, actor Amber Heard. Both parties hurled allegations of abuse toward one another, with Depp emerging victorious in his defamation trial against Heard.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has gradually embarked on a comeback campaign following months of bad press. Still, news of Depp's supposed collab with Rihanna doesn't sit well with some on social media.

"if i hear one more 'false allegations ruin a men's life' i'm gonna snap because real allegations that were proven to be true over and over again don't do anything but give the abuser even more opportunities. i'm disgusted," one person tweeted on Thursday morning.

Another critic referenced the singer's just-released single "Lift Me Up," tweeting: "Almost as bad as that song she put out."

Some social media users pointed out that Rihanna was once assaulted by her then-partner R&B star Chris Brown.

"Really? Rihanna, a survivor of domestic abuse? What the f***," they tweeted.

Others cracked jokes.

"I mean is she like sacrificing him or what?" tweeted reporter Alexis Oatman.

Writer Louise McSharry replied: "WTF RIHANNA WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU."

Vanity Fair staff writer Chris Murphy pretended to play devil's advocate in a tweet: "wait hear me out...maybe she's going to bring him out on stage and then pour pig's blood on him like in the movie Carrie... that had a happy ending right?"

However, other social media users went to bat for the two celebs.

After one person wrote, "Rihanna what is this...." another replied, "A victim helping out another victim."

Another Twitter user responded: "Even though the comments are hateful, they're going to be the same people who's checking for the SavagexFenty fashion show on YT. Congrats to Rih because this will unlock new ventures. For the next couple of years she's going to show case 'big' celebs like JD."

Rihanna recently confirmed that she'll headline the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Newsweek reached out to representatives for Depp and Rihanna, plus Savage X Fenty's partner TechStyle Fashion Group, for comment.
