Deputies in Florida arrested a DoorDash driver after he was allegedly caught stealing a customer's delivered package on camera.

Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) shared the footage in a social media post, titling the video: "We're sure DoorDash would not approve."

The incident happened August 21 just after 7 p.m. in the Legacy Park neighborhood in Davenport, southwest of Orlando.

Authorities described it as a "crime of opportunity" with the driver stumbling on the parcel sitting outside the door and deciding to take it for himself. At one point he can even be seen placing it back down before changing his mind and taking it.

"The victim had placed a food order through the DoorDash app. This is where our suspect comes into our story. Meet Moises Rios Avila from Kissimmee. He was delivering the Red Robin food that had been ordered," PCSO explained.

Video shows a man that PCSO later said is Avila set down the food before noticing the boxed package with no one around. He picked it up before walking away from the house.

He then placed the package on the ground again several feet away and even appeared to glance at the camera itself, before picking the package back up and running to his car.

"Now, we don't have any evidence that Moises left home that day with the intent to steal from anyone, but we do have this video evidence that shows he certainly took advantage of the opportunity when it presented itself," PCSO wrote.

"Not only was Moises captured on the Ring Doorbell Video (video which could easily be enshrined in Ring's Video Hall of Fame, if ever they should create one), but his tag number was captured on the HOA's security video."

Avila was later arrested and faces charges of burglary and petty theft, but the driver alleged the incident was a "prank" on his behalf.

In a statement to Newsweek, DoorDash confirmed that the driver was no longer allowed on the app.

"What happened is totally unacceptable and we've banned the individual from our platform. We have reached out to the customer to offer our support. We thank law enforcement for bringing this individual to justice, and stand ready to assist their investigation in any way we can," said a spokesperson.

Last year, an Uber Eats delivery driver was reportedly fired after footage showed him allegedly taking some of a food order for himself. The video, which went viral online, showed the man sitting on a sidewalk, scooping a pile of noodles into a reusable container.

The driver appeared to add pieces of chicken to the container and even poured a splash of soup included in the order into his container, topping off the portion of food.
