RNC Says Iowa Caucuses Are Proof 'Democrats Can't Run Our Country'

The Republican National Committee claimed Tuesday the Iowa caucuses are evidence that Democrats can't run the federal government and are crippled by corruption and ineptitude.

Republicans piled on following the delay in the caucuses voting results, trying to tie the process to Democrats' so-called convoluted economic policies, nervousness about the 2020 general election and a general inability to lead.

Supporters and members of President Donald Trump's administration rallied around the Iowa confusion to make the case that such problems reflect the "disarray" Americans should expect if a Democrat is elected president. Right-wing pundits and conservative groups accused Democrats, without any direct evidence, of attempting to cover up a lack of enthusiasm among liberal voters and a systemic desire to subvert the voting process.

"For Democrats, the Iowa caucuses were a disaster. If Democrats can't run their own caucus, how can they run our country?" the official GOP account tweeted Tuesday.

"The Democrats want to: Abolish your private healthcare, Reconstruct the planet because climate change, Take over 'significant parts of the economy,' Tell you why you're too dumb to own a firearm, Take more of your money - But they can't count their own Iowa votes," tweeted Liz Wheeler, a host on the conservative One American News Network.

In an opinion piece for The Hill Tuesday, GOP national spokesperson Elizabeth Harrington wrote, "The party that cannot calculate votes on time may want to rethink those plans. It is no wonder Democrats are nervous.... While President Trump broke the record of President Obama for caucus goers with 30,000 Iowans, Democrats could not even tabulate the vote." Her remarks were shared by the GOP Twitter account.

CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash and Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale joined MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews in declaring the Iowa caucuses confusion as a win for the president. "Who would have ever thought that @realDonaldTrump would win the democratic #IowaCaucuses?" Bash remarked in a tweet shared by Parscale on Tuesday.

Right-wing pundits reveled in the ongoing technical problems in reporting votes in the country's first presidential contest, using the situation to lambaste the Democrats as inept and unenthusiastic.

"The biggest problem for Democrats wasn't the vote count. In Iowa, the party was counting on Barack Obama-levels of enthusiasm. They got Hillary Clinton-level turnout instead," right-wing social media provocateur Mike Cernovich said on Twitter.

"Thank you, Iowa! Record turnout for@realDonaldTrump in Iowa - most ever for an incumbent President. Unified, energized & growing! Contrast that with the Dems in Iowa - disarray, demoralized & confused," Parscale tweeted.
