He was once known for his appearances on Saturday Night Live! and for hanging out with Adam Sandler, but in recent years, Rob Schneider's political views have increasingly taken center stage.

Along with railing against vaccines and vocally supporting Donald Trump, the comedian often hits out at public figures he disagrees with, such as country singer Garth Brooks, Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce and President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, the 60-year-old took aim at Susan Sarandon on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter. The actress has come under fire for her remarks at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York City on Friday, joining the long list of celebrities facing cancellation calls for their support of either Israel or Palestinians.

On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing at least 1,200 people. Israel subsequently launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and cut off supplies of food, medicine, electricity and fuel into Gaza.

According to the Associated Press, 12,700 Palestinians have been killed, while 1.7 million of Gaza's 2.3 million population have been displaced because of the fighting.

"There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country," Sarandon said at the event.

As a result of her comments, the 77-year-old has been dropped by her agency. A long-time supporter of Palestinians, the Thelma and Louise star's attendance at a slew of recent rallies has divided fans.

"America offers unparalleled freedoms to practice your religion and afford you the opportunity to live your life's dreams," Schneider, whose father was Jewish, wrote. "But there are out of touch people like Susan Sarandon. Her anti-Jewish comments are regrettable."

Newsweek has reached out to Rob Schneider for comment via email and Susan Sarandon via Instagram.

Since being shared on November 21, Schneider's post has received more than 123,000 views. However, his remarks split X users. Many called out Schneider, a vocal proponent of free speech, for criticizing Sarandon's comments.

"Freedom of speech is a double edged sword," @hackshiller commented.

"They are regrettable but she does have the right to say them," agreed @ScoutBitcoin.

"Rob Schneider is one of these guys who doesn't like identity politics.... unless it's his favored group," said KGBOfficer.

"The irony of you posting against cancel culture a few tweets down below then supporting it here… Can you find a single anti-jewish quote from Sarandon? Not anti-israel, but anti-jewish?" asked @satanticpos.

However, other users agreed with Schneider, with Steve Six writing: "Actions have consequences."

"Her comments are disgusting!!" said Webby.

"She's so isolated from reality," commented @Premisefalse.

"Meh, she's just trying to stay relevant. No real morals," said @Popo2556, while Joe Baumgartel wrote: "Hollywood elitists believe their opinion is the only one that counts!"

Along with his criticism of Sarandon, Schneider recently weighed in on the Starbucks boycott, after a workers' union expressed support for Palestinians on social media. The union is not endorsed by Starbucks, and operates as a separate entity, but Schneider urged the company to take action.

"Fire them all," he posted to X, along with a news story about Starbucks suing the union.

The post split opinions among the Deuce Bigalow star's 1.7 million followers. While some praised the actor for "standing up for Israel," others accused Schneider of supporting the cancel culture he purports to fight against.
