State police in Maine said they were expanding their search area on Thursday morning for Robert Card, the person of interest in two mass shootings that left at least 18 dead and 13 injured.
"We are expanding the shelter in place advisory and school closings to include the town of Bowdoin. Please stay inside your homes while more than 100 investigators, both local and federal, work to locate Robert Card who is a person of interest in the Lewiston shootings," the state police posted on Facebook.
The Lewiston Maine Police Department said in a Facebook post that the two shootings occurred Wednesday night at the Schemengees Bar and Grille and the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley, both in Lewiston.

The state police said, "A shooting incident with multiple casualties has occurred in multiple locations in Lewiston. Police are currently searching for Robert R. Card (04/04/83) of Bowdoin. Card is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, people should not approach Card or make contact with him."
Newsweek reached out to the state police via email for updated information.
The Associated Press reported that at least 18 died in the two shootings. Local law enforcement agencies told businesses and residents to lock their doors and stay inside as the search for Card, 40, continues.
Shortly after the shootings, the state police said they had recovered a "vehicle of interest" in the area of Lisbon, prompting the shelter-in-place order for the area "as law enforcement works in that area to locate Card."
The map below shows the search area for Card in the areas of Lewiston, Lisbon and Bowdoin.

A police bulletin providing details to local law enforcement about Card said he is believed to be in the U.S. Army Reserve and is a firearms instructor, the AP said. The bulletin also said that Card was admitted to a mental health facility earlier this year after he said he was "hearing voices and threats to shoot up" a military base in the area.
Maine Governor Janet Mills issued a statement saying, "I am aware of and have been briefed on the active shooter situation in Lewiston. I urge all people in the area to follow the direction of State and local law enforcement. I will continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with public safety officials."
State police said they would hold a press conference Thursday morning to provide more information on the shooting incidents and the search for Card.
