Pornographic actor Ron Jeremy has been indicted on more than 30 counts of sexual assault.

The 67-year-old pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday as a grand jury indicted him for the charges involving 21 women and girls across more than two decades.

The former adult film actor—whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt—has remained in jail since being arrested last summer on $6.6 million bail.

The prolific adult film star has appeared in more than 2,000 porn films since the 1970s and is one of the best-known names in the industry. He has also appeared on reality television and in numerous movies in the past thee decades.

The indictment covers allegations dating from 1996 to 2019 with victims aged 15 to 51, including 12 counts of rape.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirmed that the indictment had replaced the criminal complaint from 2020, which he also denied.

Jeremy pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of forcible rape, seven counts of forcible oral copulation, six counts of sexual battery by restraint and four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, the district attorney's office has said.

He also pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious or asleep person and one count each of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14 or 15, sodomy by use of force and assault with intent to commit rape.

According to The Associated Press, the indictment includes allegations that Jeremy raped a 19-year-old woman during a photoshoot in 1996 in the San Fernando Valley.

It also alleges that he raped a 26-year-old woman at a nightclub in 2003 and a 17-year-old girl in 2008.

Jeremy was initially charged by Los Angeles prosecutors in June 2020 with sexually assaulting four women.

Then in August of the same year, he was faced with 20 new sexual assault and groping charges by Los Angeles County prosecutors.

In October 2020, faced a further seven counts of sexual assault.

If convicted, he could receive 330 years in prison, it was reported in October.

"Far too often, survivors of sexual assault suffer in isolation," District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement.

"We must ensure that survivors have all options available to help with recovery, including trauma-informed services for healing and support to report such crimes."

Jeremy's attorney said his client was "innocent of all charges" in a statement to Reuters on Wednesday.

Jeremy is due to return to court on October 12 for a pretrial conference.
