Ruby Rose has broken her silence regarding her exit from the CW series Batwoman. On May 20, it was announced that the Orange is the New Black alum would not return for the second season. Rose starred as Kate Kane, cousin to Bruce Wayne.
On May 27, she took to Instagram and addressed her exit more candidly than her previous statement.

Rose posted a compilation video from the show. In the caption, she thanked the cast, crew, producers and studio. She cryptically noted that "It wasn't an easy decision but those who know, know."
"I didn't want to not acknowledge everyone involved and how big this was for TV and for our community," she added. "I have stayed silent because that's my choice for now but know I adore you all."
When the news was first announced on May 20, Rose released a statement regarding her departure. "I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show," she said. "I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created."
She continued, "Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made season one a success — I am truly grateful."
"Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best," the network and studios said in a joint statement at the time.
"The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman's second season and long-term future, and we —along with the show's talented creative team—look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months."
After it was announced that Rose would not return to the show, reports swirled about "friction on set." Variety reported that insiders claimed Rose was "unhappy with the long hours required of her as the series lead," which led to the actress' decision.
A source to TVLineadded that it wasn't only her choice to leave the show, and that it wasn't a good fit for Rose and Batwoman. The real reason behind her departure has yet to be confirmed.
The second season of Batwoman will premiere in January 2021 on the CW.
Newsweek did not receive a comment from Ruby Rose at time of publication.
