A woman claimed in a now-viral video that her "crazy" Hinge date wrote a message on her toilet seat after being asked to leave her home.
The video, found here, was posted to TikTok over the weekend by "Lulu" (@notsimpqueen7). So far, the post has received more than 3.7 million views and over 214,000 likes.
"Kicked out a Hinge date within 15 minutes of meeting him because bad vibes and he asked to use the bathroom before leaving AND USED MY LIPSTICK TO WRITE ALL OVER THE SEAT," read the video's text overlay.
Another line of text called the man "crazy."
In the video, Lulu can be seen scrubbing the message off the toilet seat, while the person recording the video laughs.
"[He] writes in lipstick, on my toilet," said Lulu. "He said: 'Run.'"
In the post's caption, Lulu added: "He also wrote his phone number on the seat?? my weirdo radar was spot on."
In a video response to one commenter asking for context, Lulu explained that she asked her date to leave because she simply "wasn't feeling it."
"I invited him to come to the bar with me and a group of friends ... [but] I just wasn't feeling it, I didn't want to have a bad night, so I was like, 'can you please order yourself an Uber and leave?'"
Not wanting to hurt his feelings, Lulu said that she lied about being in love with her ex as the reason behind no longer wanting to hang out. The man bought her story; however, he was upset by it. So, he decided to write a message on her toilet seat for future dates to find.
"What he wrote was: 'She is effing her ex ... run,'" Lulu said.
When it comes to online dating, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) has encouraged people to link up in a public space when meeting for the first time.
"For your first date, avoid meeting someone you don't know well yet in your home, apartment, or workplace. It may make both you and your date feel more comfortable to meet in a coffee shop, restaurant, or bar with plenty of other people around," RAINN said.
The organization also encouraged online daters to arrange their own transportation and share the location of the date with a friend.
And above all, RAINN reminded online daters that it's important to trust their instincts and leave a date if necessary.
"If you feel uncomfortable, trust your instincts and feel free to leave a date or cut off communication with whoever is making you feel unsafe. Do not worry about feeling rude—your safety is most important, and your date should understand that," RAINN said.
"If you felt uncomfortable or unsafe during the date, remember you can always unmatch, block, or report your match after meeting up in person which will keep them from being able to access your profile in the future," the organization concluded.
Despite many commenters' willingness to sympathize with Lulu's date, many others felt that his reaction proved that she was right to trust her gut instincts.
"His reaction proves your instincts were correct. Good decision," commented Gil Eyal on Lulu's follow-up video.
"His actions say it all, any guy who does this doesn't sound right," said Chicken Noodle Soup.
"I respect you for having the guts to tell him to leave," wrote Paris.
Eden said: "Your bad vibes were not wrong."
Cam Harold added: "I mean the fact that he wrote on your toilet with YOUR LIPSTICK I think kinda proves you were right that you weren't feeling it! Lmao."
