It's been over a month since the last time Saturday Night Live aired a fresh episode featuring a special guest host and musical performance.

But, finally, a bit of good news has emerged for SNL fans: A new episode of the show will air on Saturday.

In a statement, NBC announced SNL will air original content during its usual Saturday night time slot at 11:30 p.m. ET. It's unclear if there will be a host of some kind or if the show will feature a guest performance via video, but the SNL cast will be back on screen with new material for fans to indulge in.

The sketches will be "produced remotely as SNL practices social distancing," according to NBC's statement, and the episode will include a "Weekend Update" segment and original content created by the SNL cast.

No word on if the show will run for an hour as it normally does and NBC didn't reveal whether or not the episode will air live or be prerecorded.

Nonetheless, it should be a real treat for fans, who have been longing for new jokes in the midst of coronavirus quarantining. What's even better—the show may give viewers their first glimpse into the homes of their favorite SNL players.

SNL's Twitter account released a photo of the cast sitting cozily in their humble abodes, catching up with one another on a huge Zoom call, and fans were thrilled to see their smiling faces.

"It's good to see everybody. I've missed the show in these times. And I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in the cast who has been giving content the last few weeks on your channels—it's been a wonderful distraction," one Twitter user wrote in response to the photo.

Others were shocked by all the facial hair covering the screen. Many of the guys were sporting scruffier beards and mustaches than what fans were used to seeing, particularly Colin Jost, who's face was covered in Santa-white hair.

"OMG—@ColinJost can grow facial hair? Never knew," another Twitter user wrote.

Daniel Craig was the last person to appear on the NBC sketch comedy show's March 7 episode while The Weeknd belted out songs from his new album After Hours on the SNL stage. A Quiet Place 2 director John Krasinski was scheduled to host SNL for the first time on March 28 with Dua Lipa serving as the show's performer, but the coronavirus pandemic put production on an inevitable halt. Only reruns of SNL have aired since Craig's appearance.
