Actor Dustin Diamond, best known for playing Screech on the hit television show Saved by the Bell, was sentenced to four months in jail and 15 months' probation on Thursday morning, the Associated Press reported. Diamond was involved in a stabbing at a Wisconsin bar on Christmas Day in 2014.
His girlfriend, Amanda Schutz, was also found guilty of disorderly conduct, as she pushed another bar patron during the altercation. After that, Diamond took out the knife to threaten the woman and stabbed a man in the process. He said it was an accident.
The incident resulted in two misdemeanor charges against Diamond, disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon.
"I sincerely apologize to everyone involved," he said during the hearing. "This was the single most terrifying experience of my life.... This is all I've been able to think about for the last six months."
