Sebastian Stan recently revisited and discussed memorable TV and movie characters he has played during his acting career. The YouTube video was published on February 21st and has over 240,000 views.
The actor spoke with Vanity Fair about the impressive range of movies that he has starred in over the years, including Black Swan, I, Tonya, and the many marvel films that starred "The Winter Soldier."
The actor was promoting the Hulu original series, Pam + Tommy, which chronicles the sex tape scandal between Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. He also stars in Fresh which hits Hulu on March 4th.
Stan began the interview by explaining his very first role in 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance, as he only has a few minutes of screen time. He admitted that he didn't enjoy the project.
"I told my mom that I never wanna act again. She sort of allowed me to find my way back to it. It wasn't really until 14, 15 when I auditioned for the school play," he explained, "I'd mainly done it because my best friend at the time was in it and I think once I saw him do that I had enough courage to try it again."
He went into detail about each character and talked about getting these roles and explained why some of them are so interesting.
Gossip Girl
In the late 2000s, Gossip Girl was a big TV hit. Introduced in 2007, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Chase Crawford starred as rich kids from the Upper East Side in New York. Stan played Carter Baizen, the enemy that came between the main characters.
Stan was already in New York in a play and when that was over, he became worried about potential financial problems. Luckily for him, he was friends with Crawford, who could help him get on the show, but wanted to get the role for himself. He was also in competition with his roommate for the part but it was Stan who ended up getting the role.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Stan has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for many years now, appearing in various films. He discussed his character (Bucky Barnes) in the Captain America movies.
"It was always such an interesting character and I felt really lucky once we got into the winter soldier storyline because it was essentially a very relatable character in a sense that it was a guy struggling with his past and he was at the center of all these crimes without really having been aware of it."
Pam + Tommy
Stan admitted that he was hesitant when asked to play Tommy Lee because he didn't know much about the true story. The star turned to the scripts and knew that he wanted to be a part of it.
"I think the intention was always to focus on them and them as people and the invasion of privacy that occurred rather than necessarily than the scandal in itself. I don't think anybody knew how that tape was stolen. They had nothing to do with this and that's something that's wildly misinterpreted to this day."
