Groups of people in different States are visiting local restaurants and leaving substantial tips for servers, just as people are getting ready for the holiday season.
As Christmas approaches, a number of festive restaurant-goers have surprised waiters by tipping more than a thousand dollars.
One group known as the "Breakfast Santas" gave $3,000 to one waitress in Ohio, it was reported on Saturday.
The group of about 50 people club together to attend breakfast several times a year and give a large tip a deserving person.
On Wednesday, the Breakfast Santas gave a waitress at Roosters in Xenia, Ohio, a tip of $3,000 to help with bills and Christmas presents for her children, local TV station WHIO reported.
The "santas" each contribute $100 toward their tipping and each member of the waiting staff working lunch on Wednesday was also given $100.
Separately, a group of friends in Ashburn, Virginia tipped a waitress at a local IHOP $1,900 on Wednesday.
Each member of the group had reportedly brought $100 to contribute to the tip, KHOU reported.
One member, Tanya Johnson, posted a video to Facebook showing her friends clapping for the waitress, who was named Rosa, as she received the tip from the customers.
"I have the best friends in the world," Johnson wrote, adding: "Our wonderful waitress Rosa got a $1900 tip. I can't stop smiling!"

A number of similar high tipping incidents have hit the headlines in recent weeks as Americans head into the often expensive holiday season. At the Silver Diner in Columbia, Maryland two servers received tips of $910 and $4000 respectively. The first large tip was paid on a $25 check last week the second tip on a $6 check on Thursday.
Also on Thursday, waitress Yoshimi Gonzalez at Salsa Leedos in Riverton, Utah was given a $1,700 tip by a group of 12 people holding an annual Christmas party at the restaurant.
"It really took me by surprise," she told Fox 13. "I was trying really hard not to cry, and then after everything, I was shaking for a really long time."
A group of 20 people each contributed $100 toward a tip for a waitress at the Phoencia Gourmet Restaurant in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on Tuesday. Ashley Sadler, who received the tip, explained that the customers were regulars and she did not expect to be given that much.
"They come in all the time. They're like family," Sadler said.
The total tip amounted to $2,200 as two people who couldn't attend the breakfast also contributed $100 each. She shared part of the tip with others working at the restaurant.
"It was amazing," Sadler said. "I feel so blessed."
