A woman shot and killed a man in Houston, Texas, soon after she finished her shift as a security guard at a nearby apartment complex, police say.

The shooting occurred at around 2:30 a.m. outside a Shell gas station on Westheimer Road near Fondren in the Westchase area on Monday morning.

Houston Police said the male victim and the female suspect were known to each other and had several previous encounters before the shooting. It is believed the man had caused issues at the apartment complex where the woman worked, with several police reports filed on him.

Officers said the man approached the woman and pulled out a gun as she waited at the gas station for a ride. Following a verbal exchange, the woman pulled out her gun and shot at him.

Police found the male victim dead at the scene. The woman, who was still in her security uniform at the time, was not injured.

Michelle Choi, a reporter for KHOU, tweeted a video showing the male victim's family and girlfriend arriving at the scene of the shooting. The man's family did not want to speak to the media.

It is unclear if the woman will be charged over the incident. Police are said to be reviewing surveillance footage taken at the scene.

Houston Police has been contacted for comment.

Elsewhere, Houston Police recently announced that a second person has been charged with the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of a man on December 29, 2021.

Brandon Grable Fielding, 40, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident that occurred at 3505 Gillespie Street.

Another suspect, John Lindsey Daniels, 40, was arrested on September 1 in connection with the killing of Andrea Faulwell, 40, and the wounding of 33-year-old Terrance Brooks. Daniels has also been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said they were called to reports of a shooting at the address in Gillespie Street last December. Police said a group of people were outdoors playing dominoes when two males approached them and started shooting.

Faulwell and Brooks were among the group playing dominoes, and were both struck by the gunfire. The pair were taken to a nearby hospital or treatment, where Faulwell was later pronounced deceased.

Daniels was later identified as a suspect in the case and taken into custody in September without incident. Fielding was also later named as a suspect and arrested on October 6 without incident.
