ABC hasn't named the next Bachelorette yet, and one of Matt James' contestants is up for the role—that is, if Chris Harrison doesn't stick around. Serena Pitt explained she'd "consider" the Bachelorette role if asked, but would "struggle" with Harrison as the host.

"With the Bachelorette season being so soon.… I would struggle [with Chris as host], because the amount of work that needs to be done here," she told Entertainment Tonight of the series, which is slated to begin filming this month. "I would need to see the changes that have been happening in his life, and the actions that he has taken, and will be continuing to take moving forward, to feel comfortable welcoming him into the Bachelorette season."

Harrison temporarily stepped aside from his role as host of the Bachelor franchise after he vocally defended Rachael Kirkconnell, the woman from James' season who once attended an "antebellum-themed" sorority party, among other offenses.

In the conversation, which took place on Extra with Rachel Lindsay, Harrison said, "That was not the case in 2018," of Kirkconnell's actions being deeply offensive. "And again, I'm not defending Rachael. I just know that, I don't know, 50 million people did that in 2018? That was a type of party that a lot of people went to. And again, I'm not defending it. I didn't go to it."

The host has issued several apologies on Instagram, but reports on Tuesday claimed Harrison will appear on Good Morning America in the next week to share his side.

Despite the off-screen controversies, a new Bachelorette must be selected quickly if the show is to continue on schedule. Viewers saw Pitt break up with the Bachelor after hometown dates. "I think it just comes down to the fact that I don't think you're my person," she told the Bachelor.

While James wasn't her soulmate, Pitt is open to finding that person. "I can see how this journey works. As much as it didn't work out for me this season, that's not to say that I'm not still looking for love and open to it and ready for it," she explained. "If that opportunity was presented to me, I would definitely consider it."

Apparently, ABC had decided on Katie Thurston as the Bachelorette, Reality Steve reported in February. That's changed, though, given the current show climate. Who they'll end up choosing is anyone's guess, though Pitt seems to have the fanbase that would make her a competitive consideration.
