A 40-year-old Washington man was arrested on Sunday night for the double homicide of an Olalla couple found dead in their yard last Thursday.

Shaun D. Rose —who was arrested by Kitsap County's police with the support of the Tacoma Police Department, Pierce County Sheriff's Office and Mason County Sheriff's Office— is accused of killing Steve and Mina Shulz, both 51, in their home on the 12900 block of Shady Glen Avenue on August 18.

Investigators had been looking for Rose since August 20, when they obtained a felony arrest warrant for murder against him.

What Happened to Steve And Mina Shulz?

Steve and Mina Shulz were found dead in their Olalla home at around 5:15 p.m. on August 18, after their daughter —who had gone to check on them— called 911 after noticing signs of forced entry and traces of blood in the house, according to a statement from the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

Police have not yet revealed how the couple was killed, but the deputies who found husband and wife in the yard determined they had died from "homicidal violence," according to the same statement published on Friday.

Steve and Mina Shulz, who ran a small craft brewery in Olalla —E2W Brewing– were beloved members of the community, as a fundraiser started after their death was made public revealed.

"Steve and Mina were cherished members of the Olalla community. We are all heartbroken by the news we have heard. They were always very quick to help when asked, quite often before an ask was even needed. They will absolutely be missed by all," the fundraiser's description read.

A friend of the couple told Fox News: Steve and Mina Shulz had met when he was stationed in Japan while serving in the Air Force. The two had been married for 30 years and they were about to grow their brewing business, according to the couple's best friend Dwaine Weyland.

What Do We Know About The Suspect?

Shaun D. Rose, who was formally identified as the main suspect by Kitsap police on August 20, was on the run after the murder of Steve and Mina Shulz, according to deputies.

Last Saturday, investigators said Rose had stolen a vehicle to get away from the area where he had allegedly committed the murder.

"Rose should be considered armed and dangerous," a statement by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office on Facebook said. "He is believed to be hiding in the Pierce County and Tacoma area."

On Sunday night, deputies declared that Rose had been arrested and was in custody.

"After fielding numerous tips from the public and working closely with our law enforcement partners, Officers from the Tacoma Police Department arrested SHAUN ROSE, after a struggle, at a gas station in Tacoma at approximately 8:00 pm tonight," a statement by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office read.

According to deputies, Rose had been spotted driving a white Buick in Mason County earlier in the day, but the Mason County Sheriff's Office soon lost track of the suspect "due to erratic and dangerous driving on his part."

Rose then ditched the Buick and stole another vehicle in Pierce County, which he drove to Tacoma. According to Kitsap police, the suspect then abandoned this vehicle and headed into the business where he was arrested by Tacoma's officers.

"KCSO Deputies are en route to Tacoma to take custody of ROSE now and they will transport him to the Sheriff's Office to be interviewed by our Detectives," the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.

"He will ultimately be booked into the Kitsap County Jail on his NO BAIL Felony Murder warrant."

There was no apparent connection between Rose and Steve and Mina Shulz. Kitsap's detectives are still investigating the case and are seeking any information from the public. If you have any available, contact Detective Jennifer Rice at (360) 337-5616 or by email at kcsodetectives@kitsap.gov.
