Wholesome TikTok of Young Men Helping Older Woman Use Skateboard Goes Viral

While so many videos become click sensations for the wrong reasons—usually people behaving badly/illegally, someone being mocked, or bad dancing/lip-syncing—a clip posted last night on TikTok quickly became a viral hit based solely on the sweetness of its contents. In the video, two young men hold a senior lady's hands as she coasts slowly down a street on a skateboard.

The white-haired lady lets out a genuinely excited "woo!" as the smiling fellows guide her along. She talks about how great and amazing the experience is for her, before one of the biggest highlights of the video occurs: She notices she's being filmed. She then exclaims, "Oh! Look at you!" The man to her right chuckles and tells her she's being documented. "I am," she responds. "This is marvelous!"

One of the kindhearted skaters uploaded the clip to his TikTok account. His name is Kevin Perez, and judging by the rest of his online content, he's an avid skateboarder. Since no one in the video was wearing a mask, Perez pointed out that the recording was made before the pandemic by captioning it "Pre-Covid ❤️," perhaps so he could avoid anyone unfairly criticizing him for not following proper safety protocol. (It didn't prevent all the comments from coming in, though. Some people appeared to have missed the caption.)

Within 24 hours of posting, the TikTok amassed more than 40,000 views on Perez's account (as of press time), while someone else also shared the video on Reddit, where it garnered thousands of more views.

One TikTok user applauded the clip, commenting most people "don't see this side of skaters." Another wrote, "wholesomeness chart has peaked." "She's better than Addison Rae," another commented, referencing the famous (and young) TikTok model/influencer. "That's how you walk an elder across the street," one person humorously posted in Perez's comments.

On Reddit, users showed off their skateboard terminology while posting comments such as this one: "Help step-grandson! I got stuck in the half pipe!" (Note: A half pipe is a common type of skateboarding ramp.) Soon, though, Reddit commenters turned to a whole range of other topics in the messages, from asking if it is responsible to post videos of people not wearing masks (even if said videos were made before the pandemic), to discussions about older women getting their hair dyed with bright colors, to someone simply stating they missed their grandma.

But at least one person brought the online babbling back to the real theme: "Seriously. This just made my day. Seeing old people smile is the most gratifying thing ever!"
