As the search continues for Casey White, the Alabama inmate potentially aided in escaping by corrections officer Vicky White, the son of his alleged murder victim has spoken out.

Before his escape on Friday, Casey White, 38, was serving a 75-year prison sentence for various convictions and was also awaiting a trial for capital murder in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Now, Austin Williams, the son of the woman Casey White is accused of stabbing to death in 2015, has told the US Sun that he fears what the man might do next.

"He's a very dangerous person with a violent history and anyone who comes into contact with [Casey White and Vicky White] needs to contact 911 right away," Williams told the outlet. "This is a six-foot-nine, 250-pound man who broke into a woman's apartment and stabbed her to death. Anyone who crosses his path is [in] a huge amount of danger... There's no limit to what he might do."

Casey White is accused of killing 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway during a 2015 home invasion. He previously confessed to the killing in 2020, but later reversed his stance and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Williams, 42, said that he was informed of Casey White's escape from prison shortly after it occurred on Friday before the situation was shared with the media. The Nashville resident was stunned and grappled with the fact that the inmate might have received help from someone meant to keep him locked up.

"It's all very shocking and frustrating," he added. "You think you have the guy and he's finally going to trial and then all of a sudden he gets out and someone who is meant to keep him inside actually helps him get out. We want to see him back behind bars as soon as possible so we can learn the motive behind why he killed my mom."

Corrections officer Vicky White, no relation, was last seen leaving the Lauderdale County Corrections Center on Friday with Casey White. She claimed that she was taking him to a nearby courthouse for a mental health evaluation, but the pair never showed. The squad car she took was found later that day, abandoned at a shopping center with Casey White's cuffs and shackles left behind.

It is not known whether Vicky White willingly aided in the escape, though Lauderdale County Sheriff Roy Singleton said that all available evidence indicated it was likely. She was also found to have violated a rule requiring two officers when leaving the prison with an inmate. Other inmates at the prison also reportedly told investigators that the pair had some sort of "special relationship." The U.S. Marshals have issued a warrant for her arrest charging her with permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree.

Newsweek reached out to the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office for comment.
