Aaron Rodgers' Saga with Steelers Takes a Twist amid Country Club Statement

The primary period of NFL free agency and the NFL Draft have passed, and Aaron Rodgers still has not made a decision about what to do next season.

At this point in the offseason, 31 teams have already addressed their quarterback needs. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers, who let both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson walk in free agency, have uncertainty at that spot. As a result, that has been seen as the most logical landing spot all along.

The Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh rumor mill hit a fever pitch recently when a rumor surfaced that the legendary signal caller had joined Nevillewood Country Club, a golf course in Pittsburgh designed by Jack Nicklaus.

However, that rumor was quickly put to bed. Rodgers has not joined the club, according to Rick Walsh of KDKA TV.

"This rumor is NOT true," Walsh wrote on X. "I just spoke with the Club at Nevillewood President Wayne Chiurazzi, who said Aaron Rodgers did not join. The Club would love to have him if he does sign with the Steelers. It is true that Nevillewood is a beautiful Pittsburgh suburban golf course."

The Steelers are likely the only team that would even entertain Rodgers at this point in the offseason, barring a change of heart from the Minnesota Vikings on their starter, J.J. McCarthy.

Rodgers could still elect to retire and not play in the NFL at all, something that he has teased over the last few offseasons.

The Steelers are essentially banking on Rodgers coming to the Steel City next season based on the moves that they have made -- or haven't made -- this offseason.

Pittsburgh largely stayed out of the quarterback market in free agency with the exception of bringing back Mason Rudolph and signing former Dolphins backup Skylar Thompson.

Many speculated that the Steelers could take a rookie quarterback with the No. 21 overall pick, but they passed. They continued to pass on a QB through the first five rounds before taking Ohio State's Will Howard in the sixth round.

Rodgers, while not what he used to be, is clearly a step up from those options and is the best hope that the Steelers have of being a playoff contender again in 2025.

While he may not be a Nevillewood member just yet, Steelers fans will be hoping that he is in the area very soon.
