Charles Schwab Challenge: Scottie Scheffler Sends Direct Shot at LIV Golf

Scottie Scheffler wasted no time getting back to work after his exceptional victory at the PGA Championship. Just four days later, he is back on the PGA Tour to play in the Charles Schwab Challenge.

From the Colonial Country Club, home of the event, Scheffler touched on a topic that never leaves the table: the negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). In discussing the matter, the World No. 1 once again urged reporters to go to the other side to find their answers:

"I have said it a few times this year. If you want to figure out what's going to happen in the game of golf, go to the other tour and ask those guys," he said.

"I'm still here playing the PGA Tour. We had a tour where we all played together, and the guys that left, it's their responsibility, I think, to bring the tours back together. Go see where they're playing this week and ask them."

Negotiations between the PGA Tour and the PIF began virtually from the inception of LIV Golf. Both organizations signed a framework agreement released on June 6, 2023, but although the issue even reached the office of the President of the United States earlier this year, a final agreement has not been reached.

Scheffler also talked a bit about his presence at Colonial, which is unusual as most players take a week off after winning a major championship:

"Coming off a major win, obviously there's a lot of emotion and stuff that comes with winning that golf tournament, but at the end of the day I didn't just show up here to Fort Worth to just walk around and celebrate last week," he said.

"I'm here for a reason, and that's not to just play a couple of ceremonious rounds and then ride off in the sunset. I'm here for a reason. That's to compete."

However, Scheffler has not followed the general rule in the past. A year ago, he played the week after winning the Masters and, as a matter of fact, went on to win that event (RBC Heritage).

The Charles Schwab Challenge has been a regular stop on Scheffler's schedule since 2020. In five appearances, he has two third-place finishes and one second-place finish, the latter coming in 2023.

The three-time major winner has played in 10 events in 2025, finishing in the top 25 in all of them. His results include two victories (CJ Cup Byron Nelson and PGA Championship) and five other top-10s.
