The New York Mets are getting the hot stove going over two months ahead of the trade deadline.

According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Mets have called the Chicago White Sox about outfielder Luis Robert Jr. with Blade Tidwell having his name thrown around.

"The Chicago White Sox finally are starting to get some inquiries on center fielder Luis Robert with the New York Mets recently among the teams checking in and showing interest," wrote Nightengale. "The White Sox are eying 23-year-old Mets starting prospect Blake Tidwell as part of a package in return."

While this certainly gives Mets fans an idea of what the price may be, it doesn't provide the whole picture. The Mets may need to part with these other prospects to acquire Robert Jr. The White Sox are very likely to push for at least one of the following two names below plus Tidwell.

OF Drew Gilbert

Gilbert is currently the No. 10 prospect in the Mets' farm system. In 20 games at Triple-A Syracuse, the 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .235 with four home runs and 13 RBI. His OPS sits just a little over .700 at .733, but the White Sox could certainly use an outfield prospect who is knocking on the door of the big leagues.

If Gilbert were to be acquired by the White Sox, he would likely report to Triple-A Charlotte. However, it wouldn't take long for him to receive a call up.

RHP Jonah Tong

Tong, the Mets' No. 6 prospect, has been phenomenal so far this season in Double-A Binghamton. At just 21 years old, he has recorded a 2.57 ERA in his first six starts for the Rumble Ponies, and Tong has produced a high strikeout rate: 51 strikeouts in his first 28 innings of the season.

Opponents are hitting just .161 off of Tong so far. Brandon Sproat and Nolan McLean are more than likely untouchable for the Mets, but Tong is a player the Mets could deal to make themselves better now.
