The Chicago Cubs should be one of the teams that go all in to acquire Sandy Alcántara from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline.

In doing so, it may require them to cough up some top prospects. Fortunately for the Cubs, they've started to build a strong farm system in order to make a move like this when the time was right.

David Schoenfield of ESPN (subscription required) believes the Cubs may have to trade away one of these outfield prospects in order to acquire Alcántara.

"Caissie and Kevin Alcántara (not related) are two young outfielders in Triple-A, and even if Tucker isn't re-signed, there won't be room for both youngsters in 2026, so either could headline a deal," wrote Schoenfield. "Caissie's high-end power potential would certainly be intriguing for the Marlins, who have long been searching for a power-hitting outfielder."

The Marlins outfield certainly needs reworking as they haven't had a big name in the outfield since Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich were traded. If the Marlins play their cards right, the price for Alcántara may increase so much that both outfielders are needed to push the deal through.

Chicago may be hesitant at first to give up two top-10 prospects, but this is a move it should be willing to make in order to compete with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers in the postseason.
