The Chicago Cubs have moved into first place in the National League Central division -- and shouldn't look back barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Now, the Cubs will look to grow their lead in the division -- currently at 1 1/2 games as of Wednesday morning -- and make a push for the playoffs.
They'll need some insurance for the latter part of that statement which is why Michael Hanich of Athlon Sports believes they'll go after All-Star second baseman and outfielder Brandon Lowe.

"There is still room for improvement, as (the Cubs) could be linked to one of the most underrated hitters in the AL East," wrote Hanich.
Through 10 games, Lowe has a slash line of .293/.326/.512 with three home runs and eight RBI. He's been one of the better hitters for the Rays in the early stages of this season.
"Tampa Bay might try to trade one of their more experienced and efficient veterans for young players to save money for a star," wrote Hanich. "For the Cubs, they can get Lowe to join a talented win-now team and take over second base with current second baseman Jon Berti on a one-year: $2 million deal."
Currently, the Cubs have Nico Hoerner in addition to Berti as a platoon at second base. Acquiring Lowe would give them a much-needed boost in the lineup, move Berti strictly to a bench role and allow Hoerner to move around the diamond as needed.
Lowe is on a club option for this season being paid $10.5 million, and he also has a club option worth $11.5 million next season before hitting free agency in 2027.
