Dodgers Trade Idea Would Land Rangers 2-Time All-Star After Teoscar Hernandez News

The Los Angeles Dodgers have assembled one of the deepest rosters in Major League Baseball history, but a significant loss might call for a drastic addition.

In the bottom of the fourth inning of Monday's matchup against the Miami Marlins, Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez left the game with a hamstring injury that has now called for an MRI.

Though the team was awaiting results as of Tuesday morning, manager Dave Roberts signaled some alarm following the game.

"He's a guy that just doesn't come out of games by way of injury," Roberts said, per MLB.com's Sonja Chen. "That's a little concerning given the person."

Roberts added that the team is going to make an addition to its "taxi squad" as it prepares for life without Hernandez. But the news of a potential injury should motivate the team to pursue bona fide big-leaguer Adolis Garcia, who has just been named a trade candidate by Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller.

"As annoying as it may be to MLB fans outside of Los Angeles, the perfect trade partner here is probably the Dodgers," Miller wrote. "Michael Conforto has been a huge disappointment in left field, and the Dodgers have a half-dozen pitchers with more career saves than any arm currently in Texas — including last year's Rangers closer, Kirby Yates. The reigning champs also have no shortage of young starting pitchers at their disposal."

If Conforto's struggles hinted at a trade for Garcia, then Hernandez's injury scare could compel one.

Garcia has seen his production dip since making his second career All-Star team in 2023, but he offers more power potential as a replacement for Hernandez than a Conforto or an Andy Pages. And he's got another year of arbitration eligibility ahead before reaching free agency, making him a relatively low-risk option.

As the Dodgers assess their roster in the coming days, he could be a good fit.
