The New York Mets have put together quite an exciting offseason led by the signing of superstar outfielder Juan Soto and bringing back Pete Alonso. To pair with Soto, the Mets have added pitchers like Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas to the starting rotation.
Free agent Jose Quintana has yet to find a home and there's growing speculation the Mets could look to reunite with the lefty. But there's a market for the reliable starter and New York might not be the favorite to bring him back.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently predicted the Cleveland Guardians would steal Quintana from the Mets on a very affordable contract.

"For a team that's supposed to make the playoffs, Cleveland's starting rotation is kind of awful," Miller wrote. "FanGraphs' projections of the various SP depth charts put it at 27th-best, ahead of only the Rockies, White Sox, and Athletics. Meanwhile, in 11 career appearances at Progressive Field—most of them during his early days with the White Sox, but just go with it—Quintana has a 1.95 ERA.
"And at an estimated salary of a little over $8 million, adding him would bring Cleveland's estimated Opening Day tax payroll to around $124 million. Considering the Guardians ended last season at $144 million, that should be agreeable, right?"
After losing Matthew Boyd, the Guardians could use the production of another lefty like Quintana.
Cleveland doesn't usually pay the money to win bidding wars for players in the upper level of free agency, but a player like Quintana would fit the roster and payroll in Cleveland very well.
