MLB Insider Jim Bowden suggested a trade that would send the St. Louis Cardinals' third baseman, Nolan Arenado, to the Motor City for a pair of prospects. This move would solidify the only hole in the Detroit Tigers' infield and open the gates for Cardinals prospects.

Nolan Arenado can invoke his no-trade clause, so there is no guarantee that he would allow a trade to the Tigers. The Tigers currently sit with one of the top five-man rotations in baseball. They were a playoff team last season and show no signs of regressing out of October this year.

The Cardinals have said they want to give their younger players runway this season to get a full evaluation of their impact for the future. The rumors of St. Louis shopping Arenado in the winter, along with the blocked trade to the Houston Astros, has left a couple of their young guns in limbo.

The package that Bowden suggested includes right-handed pitcher Josh Randall and third baseman Carson Rucker. Keith Law of The Athletic ranked Randall as the No. 11 prospect in the Tigers' farm system. He was drafted in the third round of last year's draft and with a sinker at 95-96 mph during his college days, he projects as a mid-rotation starter at the major league level.

The Cardinals would have to accept lower-level prospects to get Arenado's contract off the books, and the pair of prospects that Bowden suggested should be well enough compensation to limit the amount the Cardinals would retain on his contract through 2027.
