Red Sox Prompted To Solve Pair Of Issues With Trade For All-Star Infielder

The Boston Red Sox lost Triston Casas to a knee injury at the beginning of May and have not found a clear solution to replacing the promising young player. They have been using a combo of Nick Sogard, Abraham Toro, and Romy Gonzalez to fill their needs for the time being, but it is far from a finished solution. Rookie Kristian Campbell has begun work to learn the position and their superstar Rafael Devers is refusing to man the position.

Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe proposes the Red Sox kill two birds with one stone as the Red Sox's top prospect, Roman Anthony, continues to dominate Triple-A. Abraham prompted the Red Sox to trade an outfielder for Houston Astros infielder Isaac Parades. This would open a spot in the outfield for the Red Sox to call up Anthony and solve the carousel at first base with a solidified option to play every day.

Entering Wednesday, Anthony was hitting .322 in Triple-A with six home runs. Anthony is playing so well it is a disservice to the organization to keep him down much longer and with the injury to Casas, the Red Sox have the chance to bring up their electric young prospect to Fenway Park.

Parades' contract is up at the end of the season, allowing Casas to take back the reins when he is fully healthy. Parades is batting .264 for the Astros entering Tuesday and has smashed eight home runs on the season. Parades' bat would help replace the missing production from Casas, and with the trade of an outfielder, add another dynamic bat in Anthony.

If the Campbell experiment does not prove fruitful, and Devers does not come around to help the team, Parades may be the best fit for the Red Sox lineup -- especially coming with the chance to unleash Anthony on the rest of Major League Baseball.
