The Cincinnati Reds have made a series of roster moves following the injury to Tyler Callihan during Monday night's game against the Atlanta Braves. The Reds have placed Callihan on the 10-day injured list and called up outfielder Jacob Hurtubise, who began the season on the opening day roster.

Hurtubise was with the Reds on opening day, but his time was short-lived in Cincinnati. He appeared in just nine games, starting only one before being sent down on April 15. During his time with the Reds earlier this season, Hurtubise was an extra outfielder and pinch runner and will likely jump back into such a role upon returning to Cincinnati.

Following the injury in Atlanta, Callihan would return to Cincinnati on Tuesday for surgery to repair several broken bones in his left forearm. Callihan was playing in his fourth game in the majors before suffering an injury that would set him back a couple of months to heal.

The Reds also made a second pair of moves as they recalled right-handed pitcher Lyon Richardson from Triple-A Louisville. Richardson has split time for the last three seasons between the minors and the big league club. The former second-round pick has been unable to stick on at the majors quite yet, and this may be the tipping point.

To make room on the major league roster for Richardson, the Reds sent down right-handed pitcher Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A. Zulueta has been back and forth between the minors and majors as well and will head back to Louisville only appearing in two games for the Reds this season.

The Reds made one final roster move as they assigned Rhett Lowder to the minors for a rehab start following lingering elbow and forearm issues. Lowder started on Tuesday night in the Arizona Complex League but is not yet ready to make his 2025 debut.
