76ers Nightmare Season Continues as Paul George Will Miss Remainder of Season

The nightmare season for the Philadelphia 76ers continues.

The 76ers will be without their star forward, Paul George, for the rest of the season due to left adductor muscle and left knee injuries.

ESPN's Shams Charania shared via X.

Charania also shared how George has spent her last week consulting with doctors.

"George spent the past week consulting with doctors on the best treatment options. The 34-year-old suffered two hyperextensions in his knee in October and November, a finger tendon injury in January, and dealt with a groin ailment in recent weeks. He played 41 games this season," wrote Charania.

Philadelphia has a 23-44 record, which is good for the No. 12 seed in the Eastern Conference.

George has had a disappointing season, and some of that has translated into the 76ers' woes this season. The 34-year-old signed a four-year, $212 million contract with Philadelphia in the summer. He was viewed as a piece that would do wonders for Joel Eiid and Tyrese Maxey.

However, that has not been the case. Both Embiid and George have not played much, and they have not played much together. Even when George is on the court, he looks like a shell of himself.

George finishes the season averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 41 games. His injuries started in the preseason when he suffered a hyperextension of his left knee that forced him to miss the first five games of the regular season. He hyperextended the same knee in November, which cost him three games.

Since then, it's been one thing after another for the nine-time All-Star.

In late February, George said he would pause his podcast, "Podcast P," to focus on finishing the season strong with his team.

"I want to let the Podcast P family know that, after today's episode with Dwight, I plan to take a break from the pod just to focus on getting my body right, getting mentally right, and making this squad make a push towards our goal to finish this season out, give ourselves a chance to be in contention, to compete for a championship," George said.

George instead now joins Embiid, who is also out for the season. Embiid was ruled out for the season in early March due to his ongoing knee issues.

The 2024-25 season has been a season to forget for the 76ers, who entered the season with title aspirations. It's safe to say the page has turned to next season for the Sixers.
