The Los Angeles Lakers took down the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday in what was a very emotional game already. It was the return of former guard Luka Doncic to Dallas for the first time since the blockbuster trade went down months ago.

In the pregame celebration, Doncic was emotional and was seen tearing up. However, when the game started, it was all business for Doncic.

The star guard helped the Lakers win the game, and it was an all-around solid effort from him. But after the game, Mavericks star Anthony Davis spoke with Doncic about everything.

Davis, playing the Lakers for the first time since the deal happened, shared more information about the conversation.

"Both of us were caught off [guard], surprised by [the trade]," Davis said. "But that was two months ago. It happened. There's nothing we can do about it now. Just told him, 'Good game.' He played a hell of a game. Just a respect thing."

Davis understands that this is a business, and it seems that he is past it all. Doncic is as well, but he couldn't help to not feel a certain way on Wednesday.

Doncic was asked about whether he had closure following this game and was as honest as possible.

"It's a hard question," Doncic said. "For sure, it's a little bit more. Talking about closure, sometimes hard because I spent a lot of time here. Great moments. But it's getting more and more [normal].

"I got to focus on different things now."

The Lakers clinched a postseason spot with the win and will now be within the top six of the Western Conference. This is quite an accomplishment for this team, but the journey is just beginning.

With the postseason starting soon, the Lakers are in a good spot. If this team can continue to click, they could do some real damage come playoff time, with Doncic leading the charge.
