The Memphis Grizzlies have been trying their best to get through the rest of their season following the decision to fire head coach Taylor Jenkins with just a week left in the regular season.
Memphis made that choice when the Grizzlies still looked like they could get home-court advantage. Unfortunately for them, they are just 4-8 in their last 12 games.
That has led them to slide to seventh in the Western Conference standings with just two games to go. They still have a shot to get home-court, but it will be tough to get.

If they are going to make a march for either the fourth or fifth seed, they are going to have to do it without promising rookie Jaylen Wells. Wells was injured after being undercut by KJ Simpson of the Hornets.
Wells was stretchered off the court and sent to the hospital. He was immediately diagnosed with a broken wrist.
Great update: Jaylen Wells has been discharged from the hospital after scary fall Tuesday night, agent Aman Dhesi tells ESPN. However, Wells is now sidelined for an extended period of time with a broken wrist after appearing in 79 games and vying for an All-Rookie team selection. https://t.co/mKNKfGsDut

The injury to the wrist was going to be hard to come back from, but that wasn't the only injury that he sustained during that scary fall.

Now, the Grizzlies have announced a more updated report for Wells. Unfortunately, it's one that will keep him out for the rest of the season.

The Grizzlies will now have to find someone to take over the minutes that they were allocating to Wells. He was a key player off the bench for them.
Memphis is going to make sure that Wells gets everything he needs to recover so that he is good to go starting next year. He has proven to be a valuable guy off the bench that they can rely on.
Once the Grizzlies determine who they will face in the first round of the playoffs, they can figure out which player will work best to take over for Wells.
It's a shame that Wells won't be getting playoff experience as a rookie because it would have been very valuable for him. That experience would have helped him in future seasons.
The hope is that Wells can make a full recovery and he can be an asset for this team for years to come. This is a good start to his career.
In his rookie season, Wells averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 42.5 percent per game and 35.2 percent from beyond the 2-point arc.
