The Memphis Grizzlies are trying to navigate a turbulent end of the season. They have had to deal with a lot of injuries and some off-the-court issues.
Ja Morant has had multiple injuries this season. He also was fined $75,000 for having a gun celebration after being told by the NBA not to do something like that again.
The Grizzlies also fired Taylor Jenkins with just a week to go in the regular season. They did that despite the fact that Memphis still had a shot to get home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Unfortunately for them, another poor moment happened on Tuesday night. Rookie Jaylen Wells was undercut while going for a dunk in a game against the Hornets.
It was a scary injury that resulted in a Flagrant 2 foul for KJ Simpson. Wells had to leave the court on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital.

Wells was diagnosed with a broken wrist immediately, but there were more pressing worries for Wells and his well-being. There was concern that he had suffered either a head or a neck injury.
The Grizzlies got some good news on Wednesday afternoon when it was reported that he had been discharged from the hospital.
Great update: Jaylen Wells has been discharged from the hospital after scary fall Tuesday night, agent Aman Dhesi tells ESPN. However, Wells is now sidelined for an extended period of time with a broken wrist after appearing in 79 games and vying for an All-Rookie team selection. https://t.co/mKNKfGsDut

Even though Wells will likely be out for quite a while because of his broken wrist, it's good news that he didn't suffer anything that was worse than that.
When he was being stretchered off the court, there was deep concern that he had suffered a catastrophic injury. It's great news that didn't happen.
Moving forward, the Grizzlies are going to have to find someone in the rotation who can replace what he does as the playoffs approach. He is someone who plays a lot for them.
While there is hope that Wells could potentially return if they make a deep run in the playoffs, they are going to have to figure out a way to make up his production until that happens, if at all.
Right now, Memphis sits in seventh in the Western Conference standings, although they are tied for fourth. They will need to win a couple of more games to make sure they don't have to compete in the Play-In Tournament.
Wells is averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
