Heat Star Tyler Herro Takes Massive Shot at Darius Garland Over Playoff Comments

The first round series between the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers has not lacked any drama. While the Cavaliers lead the series 2-0 and will head to South Beach to try to take a commanding 3-0 lead, it will not be easy.

The Heat gave the Cavaliers a run for their money in Game 2. While the Cavs came out on top, it did not come without a scare from Heat star Tyler Herro and his squad. The game was intense, but so were the words between Cavaliers star Darius Garland and Herro after Game 2 and ahead of Game 3.

After the Cavaliers' win, Garland spoke to reporters and took a massive shot at Herro in response to their offense.

"Pick on Tyler Herro and take care of the ball," Garland said. "Don't play in tight spaces and pick on their weak defenders. Go at them."

Ahead of Game 3, Herro responded to reporters when the topic was brought up. Herro said Garland is the one who doesn't play defense.

"To go to the media to talk about gameplan and this and that says a lot about him. I'm not worried about Darius Garland. ... Somebody that doesn't play defense shouldn't be talking either. He don't play any defense and we'll see that tomorrow. He don't play no D."

Herro and Garland are not two of the best defenders in the league; much of it has to do with their lack of size. However, we may see an uptick in their individual defense after the exchange of words between the two.

While the defense between the two is questionable, there is no doubt about the offensive prowess of the two guards. Herro came into the league with a great offensive bag, but it has only gotten better throughout his career.

As for this series, Herro is showcasing his offensive skill, averaging 27.0 points per game, 3.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three.

Garland is also doing phenomenal, averaging 24.0 points per game, 7.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Both Garland and Herro are vital to their teams' success, though their impact clearly comes on the offensive end rather than on-ball defense.

That said, each is capable of making timely plays on the defensive side when it matters most—moments that could swing the momentum in this series.
