Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James suffered a knee injury during the team's five-game playoff series loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. James tried to play through the injury, but eventually the Lakers were eliminated.

The Minnesota Timberwolves used their size and length to overmatch the Lakers, making life very tough on them. But even if Los Angeles had advanced, it would have been tough for James to keep playing due to the extent of the injury.

Due to the issue, James has announced that he won't be able to attend the Met Gala in New York tonight. James often goes to these events, but he will be forced to start rehabbing the injury instead.

"Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won't be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done! ????✨✨✨"

James is a big fan of these events, so it is likely frustrating for him not to attend. But he seems to be attacking this injury with full force, likely to get ready for the start of next season.

There is a chance that James could retire this offseason, but many have speculated that he will play at least one more year. James has hinted at retirement in each of the past few offseasons, but he has always shown up when the year starts.

James holds a player option this summer, so he could also become a free agent. However, many around NBA circles expect him to be back with the Lakers if he does decide to continue playing.

With the Lakers landing star guard Luka Doncic this season, Los Angeles has some hope for the future. Doncic may be able to help James add on some extra years since the veteran forward won't have to run the offense as much anymore.

Assuming that James does return next season, it will be his 23rd year in the league. Despite this, James hasn't slowed down and remains one of the best players in the entire NBA.

This is a testament to his greatness and how he takes care of his body. The Lakers are hopeful for his return, but this injury does need to be dealt with.
