As the Denver Nuggets prepare for Game 7 of their second-round playoff series with the Oklahoma City Thunder, they will be missing a crucial player. Star forward Aaron Gordon will miss the game and will also need several weeks to recover.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported the news on social media.

"Denver's Aaron Gordon has a Grade 2 hamstring strain and needs several weeks to recover from the injury, sources tell ESPN. The Nuggets' playoff star has been searching for ways to play in today's Game 7 against Oklahoma City, but it is becoming physically improbable to do so."

This is certainly a massive blow to the Nuggets' chances, not only in Game 7, but if they were to advance. Denver is more than capable of taking down the Thunder on the road in this game, but losing Gordon is tough.

Gordon has been electric for the Nuggets this season, offering them a solid option alongside stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. At times, his value can be underappreciated, but Gordon has been one of the more consistent players for Denver.

The forward averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 0.5 steals per contest this season. Gordon also shot 43.6 percent from beyond the 3-point line this season.

Gordon has been great for the Nuggets during this series with the Thunder, helping them push the top-seed in the Western Conference to the brink. The veteran hit a game-winning shot in Game 1 and has played excellent defense against Oklahoma City as well.

With Gordon now likely out of the lineup, others will need to step up for the Nuggets. Denver is an experienced team that has been in tough situations before, but without one of the core players, things get tighter.

The winner of this Game 7 matchup will advance to the Western Conference Finals, where they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota has been waiting for multiple days after it defeated the Golden State Warriors in five games.
