New Orleans seemed to back up James in this drama by taking a shot at Smith.

The Pelicans posted old highlights of Smith playing basketball. The highlights aren't the best of Smith, signaling the Pelicans taking the side of James in all this drama.

The Pelicans defending James wasn't on many people's bingo cards, but it seems that teams are taking a stand against Smith. Even with the rivalries on the court, James is still a player, and teams tend to band together.

This all comes after Smith went back at James on his morning ESPN show. James had discussed Smith while on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week, and this was Smith retaliating.

Smith had a lot to say about James, including some wild takes. The longtime personality claimed that James didn't attend the memorial service of former NBA star Kobe Bryant within his rant.

This beef all comes back to previous comments that Smith made about James' son, Bronny. James then confronted Smith at a recent game on the sidelines to let him know how he felt about it all.

But this new back-and-forth feud between the two men seems to be something on a different level. They are both angry with one another, and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight.

It remains to be seen if James will respond to these latest comments from Smith. James has made a career of not acknowledging stuff like this, but lately, he has given into it more.

This could be due to his son being in the NBA now, or James realizes his career is almost over. Either way, it's a strong narrative in basketball right now, and nobody seems to know what will happen next.
