The Detroit Pistons could potentially see the return of their young star guard, Jaden Ivey, later in the playoffs if they advance beyond the first round.
The team shared a significant update on Ivey's recovery, noting that he is making strong progress. His current activities include a gradual return to basketball shooting and skill development, along with continued reconditioning and strength training.

Pistons beat writer Omari Sankofa II shared the news via X.

Ivey has not played since Jan. 1 due to a broken left fibula that has kept him sidelined.
His status will be updated again in two weeks. In the meantime, Ivey is delayed to full five-on-five past the first round of the playoffs. As things stand, the Pistons trail 2-1 in their first-round series against the New York Knicks.

Earlier in the month, the Pistons revealed that Ivey had been cleared for basketball activity. The 23-year-old suffered a gruesome injury in an early January game against the Orlando Magic.
Ivey suffered a fractured left fibula after a collision with Magic guard Cole Anthony while chasing down a loose ball. Shortly after, it was announced that Ivey would undergo surgery and was expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Prior to the injury, the 2022 NBA lottery pick was putting together an impressive campaign. In 30 appearances, Ivey averaged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over 29.9 minutes per game. His biggest leap came in his efficiency, as he posted career-best marks by shooting 46.0 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc.
The Pistons could really use Ivey in their lineup this postseason run. While the Pistons have the depth at the guard position, Ivey's quickness, athleticism, and skill could be the missing piece to get over the top of the Knicks.
In the meantime, Detroit is giving the Knicks a run for their money. The Pistons entered this series as the underdog, and that remains the case through three games. Game 4 of the series is set for Sunday, where Detroit will have a shot to even things up once again.
