Raptors Could Land $215M All-Star in Bold Trade Deadline Deal

The Toronto Raptors are expected to be active ahead of the NBA trade deadline, with many seeing them as potential sellers. Toronto hasn't had a great season so far but they do field a few players who could entice opposing teams into making a deal.

But at the same time, the Raptors want to build themselves back up to start contending for a spot in the postseason. Even if they don't reach the playoffs this year, the moves that they make now could play a vital role in the future.

With this thought, Toronto could shock everyone and become a buyer ahead of the trade deadline. The Raptors have been an opportunistic franchise over the years, always looking for ways to improve themselves.

In this new trade idea from Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World, the Raptors make the decision to land an All-Star, giving themselves some extra credibility moving forward. The deal would be between the Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans, having Brandon Ingram head to Canada.

Here is what the deal could look like:

Toronto Raptors Receive: Brandon Ingram

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, 2026 First-Round Pick (IND)

"This allows the Raptors to acquire Ingram and give him a lucrative short-term contract extension to keep him on the franchise for 2025 and beyond. Ingram's dreams of getting a full max contract are likely already dead, but the Raptors might be the perfect situation in terms of someone who'll pay him for now while giving him a genuine chance to rebuild his value."

Ingram could play a big role in helping the Raptors turn things around. Toronto would be making a deal like this with the intent to retain him after the season ended.

The veteran is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season and New Orleans has been trying to move him since the summertime. The big issue with Ingram has been his injury concerns but Toronto could potentially get an All-Star-talent for cheap here.

This proposed deal could have the Raptors back into playoff position as early as next season as they look to become more relevant in the Eastern Conference.
