The Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz have made a significant trade, which could hint at another massive trade down the road as we approach the deadline on Feb. 6.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Suns acquired three first-round picks from the Jazz in exchange for a 2031 unprotected first-round pick.

Charania shared the news via X.

Sources said the Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in Cleveland/Minnesota in 2025, 2027, and 2029.

This aggressive approach by the Suns unlocks their next six drafts and breaks up their lone tradable first in 2031 into three firsts.

This move for the Suns could hint at a potential trade for Miami Heat superstar forward Jimmy Butler, one of the best players on the trading block.

This trade now gives the Suns the opportunity to trade for a big-time player this trade deadline, like a Butler, who they've been linked to and are among the favorites to land him.

Suns owner Mat Ishbia has shown throughout his tenure that he is never shy to make significant changes to the roster.

Sources said Butler, who requested a trade from the Heat earlier this month, has the Suns among his preferred trade destinations.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that Butler has 'tripled down' on his trade request. Charania said that the Heat has had some productive conversations on a potential trade this week.

In addition, ESPN's Brian Windhorst mentioned that Butler's top destination is Phoenix.

"Jimmy's No. 1 focus is getting traded, preferably, to the Phoenix Suns. Everything else is secondary. Not getting traded to 'Team X,' not getting traded to 'Team Y,' getting traded to the Phoenix Suns.

"And so, anything that you want to bring that's rational, if it doesn't mean getting traded to the Suns, Jimmy is not going to be interested in it right now. That's one thing you got to remember out of all of that. And that is the way he is operating. The second thing is that what [ESPN's Tim Bontemps] has been saying for months as well, is that Butler's best move is to just focus on playing. I think that is on the table but not until after the trade deadline. And so that's one of the things that the Heat have in the back of their mind."

A Butler to Phoenix trade may happen sooner rather than later.
