Suns' Kevin Durant Has Reportedly Made a Decision on Remaining With Phoenix

While all signs point to Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant being with a new team next season, the book is not yet closed on that. At least if you tell Logan Murdock of The Ringer.

In his latest column, Murdock shares how Durant could stay in Phoenix until at least next season.

"The book isn't closed on Durant returning to the Suns next season. League sources suggest that Durant, who will be eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension this offseason, would be open to a return. Booker says he'd be excited to continue playing with his idol."

Durant is currently in his second full season with the Suns, having been traded to the Valley of the Sun prior to the 2023 NBA trade deadline.

This report is encouraging for the Suns and Durant's future in Phoenix. Suns' star guard Devin Booker also looks forward to Durant continuing to be his teammate.

"Hell yeah, I want to play alongside him," Booker said. "The team's been in a tough situation. So, that's the NBA today. I think K understands the business too, that when things aren't going the right way, people are going to explore options. I don't know how serious it actually was, but we moved past it. You see his morale, you see how he feels about the city."

The Suns have had a season from hell. Phoenix started the season hot but has fallen quickly. They are currently one game out of the No. 10 seed, which is the last spot for the Play-In tournament. With no Durant for this touch stretch of their schedule, the Suns could kiss their postseason hopes goodbye.

Durant will miss at least a week with a left ankle sprain. He suffered the injury in the team's loss on Sunday to the Houston Rockets.

The Suns have experienced a rollercoaster of a season, and while they may choose to keep Durant, a trade remains a possibility.

Despite his relatively short tenure as owner, Matt Ishbia has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to make bold moves. This summer could bring yet another round of significant changes for the franchise.
