Aaron Rodgers Responds to Packers' Jordan Love Getting Record-Breaking Deal

Aaron Rodgers spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, which some believed would be his only team. However, he was blindsided in 2020 when the team drafted Jordan Love out of Utah State. The proverbial writing was on the wall that Love was meant to replace Rodgers.

It didn't take long for that to happen, as Love sat behind Rodgers for two seasons before he was traded to the New York Jets. Naturally, it would be assumed that Rodgers would hold a grudge against the Packers and Love for ending his longtime tenure with the Packers.

Though Rodgers might be a bit upset at the Packers organization, he appears not to be as such towards Love. Love just received the highest-paid contract for a quarterback in the NFL, and Rodgers has now reacted to it.

While speaking on NFL Network, Rodgers gave a shout-out to Love and his new contract.

"I want to give a shoutout to Jordan Love for becoming the highest-paid player in the NFL," Rodgers said, via USA Today. "J-Love, don't spend it all in one place. But if you do, I still have a house in Green Bay up for sale."

Naturally, Rodgers reminded everyone how funny he can be while petitioning Love to buy his house in Green Bay. Love also caught wind of the joke and responded.

"Somebody will buy it, but probably not me," Love said.

Love came out in 2023 in a strong way, securing 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. His performance was capped by a near-win during the Divisional Round of the playoffs when the Packers lost to the 49ers with a score of 24-21.

The Packers saw all they needed to see with Love and signed him to a four-year, $220 million deal. While this deal ties Love with Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence at $55 million per season, Love technically beats them out with $155 million guaranteed due at signing.

Love is now signed through the 2028 season, and the hope is he can lead the Packers back to NFC prominence. Based on his 2023 contract, that hope should not be all that unlikely.

The Packers nearly found themselves in a tough spot with Love, who was holding in during training camp until his new deal was finalized. That did not take long, as the front office made the deal following Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa also receiving a massive extension.

Whether or not both are connected, Love is now the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
