The Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly made significant progress on extensions for star wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The two players have been negotiating deals with Cincinnati to keep them with the organization for years to come.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported the news on social media.

"The #Bengals have made significant progress on contract extensions with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and both deals could be finalized in the coming days, sources tell me and@RapSheet. It now appears Joe Burrow will get his wish: Both star WRs in Cincy for years to come."

This is massive news as many have speculated on whether the Bengals could get this done. Cincinnati has been wanting to keep the band together offensively and it seems that they may just be doing so.

Quarterback Joe Burrow has been very outspoken about keeping both Higgins and Chase in Cincinnati. It seems that the front office understands the value that they bring to the table and is working to get the deals done.

Both players have been in standoffs with the Bengals front office for some time now. Higgins was given the franchise tag for the second straight season so the two sides could continue to negotiate a deal.

Chase has been promised by the front office to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. While it remains to be seen if that will happen, this is great news for the organization.

Cincinnati did miss the postseason last year but they came close to pulling off an epic season turnaround. The Bengals won five of their final six games overall to give themselves a chance at the playoffs heading into the final week of the season.

While they did come up short, the Bengals were reminded of how strong they can be on the offensive side of the ball. With Burrow locked up for multiple more years, the Bengals are looking to try to win a Super Bowl with this core group.

Even with the fickle nature of the NFL, Cincinnati should remain a top contender in the AFC if they can finalize these two deals. The Bengals offseason won't be done by any means but they will at least have gotten one of the bigger distractions out of the way.
