The Cleveland Browns are placing star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on the physically unable to perform list due to a neck injury. This means that he will miss the entire 2025 season, including the playoffs, if Cleveland clinches.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the news on social media.

Browns' executive vice president of football operations and general manager, Andrew Berry, released a statement about the injury.

"Jeremiah's health is of the utmost importance to us and although he has made progress towards recovery, we've made the decision to place him on Reserve/PUP, which means he will not play football during the 2025 season," Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry said.

"Jeremiah has the full support of our team, and we expect him to continue to be a part of the organization even though he will not return to the field this year. We will not make any predictions on Jeremiah's football future at this time, but we do note that he's in good spirits and will continue to take the advice of the world-class medical experts who will continue to guide his progress and recovery."

Owusu-Koramoah suffered the injury in Week 8 of the 2024 season against the rival Baltimore Ravens. The linebacker collided with running back Derrick Henry and was then carted off the field.

Cleveland has been concerned about his overall health since the incident, and now they will face the upcoming season without his services. Owusu-Koramoah made the Pro Bowl in 2023 for the Browns after being taken in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

For his career, Owusu-Koramoah has put up 302 tackles, eight sacks, three interceptions, 17 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, and 40 tackles for loss. Losing his presence on the field will impact the Browns' defense for this season, and others are going to need to step up.

Cleveland is coming off a season where they missed the playoffs, so 2025 will be a reception year for them. The Browns have a loaded quarterback room, with multiple guys expected to compete for the starting job.

The defense will likely be the calling card for the Browns once again this season, making this news about Owusu-Koramoah even tougher.
