Murray, 26, was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. Murray spent four seasons in L.A., making 59 appearances (53) starts and securing 321 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, five sacks, 10 pass deflections, and two interceptions.

The Chargers declined the fifth-year option on Murray ahead of the 2023 season, and he became a free agent at the end of the year.

Last March, he signed a two-year deal with the Titans and was named a team captain ahead of the season.

Murray started 14 games as Tennessee's inside linebacker last year, securing 95 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one interception. It was his best year as a pro but was unfortunately cut short as he suffered a wrist injury in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts that ended up putting him on injured reserve.

Now, Murray will spend the final year of his two-year, $15.5 million deal with Dallas, as he looks to help them regroup after a disappointing 2024 season.

The Cowboys missed the playoffs for the first time in four seasons last year after finishing with a record of 7-10.

The season was derailed by injuries, but Dallas is looking to revamp and reload heading into the 2025 campaign.

Cowboys Offseason Additions

Thus far, the Cowboys have made four free agent additions this offseason.

The team signed running back Javonte Williams to a one-year, $3 million deal; offensive lineman Robert Jones to a one-year, $4.5 million deal; defensive tackle Solomon Thomas to a two-year, $8 million deal; and defensive end Payton Turner to a one-year, $3 million deal.

In addition to the Murray trade, the Cowboys are also acquiring cornerback Kaiir Elam from the Buffalo Bills. The Cowboys sent a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Bills for Elam and a 2025 sixth-round pick.
