Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love likely won't play in Week 3, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"I don't think Jordan Love is going to be able to play," Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show Monday. "Let's see how the week goes but I personally don't expect to see him out there on Sunday."

Love sprained his MCL on Sept. 6 in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Week 1 loss to the Eagles in Brazil was even more heartbreaking given the starting quarterback's injury.

Love went 17 of 34 for 260 yards, had two touchdowns, and an interception before he exited the game.

The starter is expected to return by Week 4 or Week 5.

"He could surprise me, he could make a quick recovery," Schefter said. "I thought all along the two targets dates were Week 4 against the Vikings or Week 5 against the Rams. Those always were going to be the two dates that they could get him back by. That's still the hope that he gets back at that point in time. Weeks 4 or 5 are more realistic right now."

Based on Schefter's report, it looks as though the Packers will rely on backup quarterback Malik Willis in Week 3.

The Packers were able to hold off the Indianapolis Colts in their 16-10 victory.

Willis went 12 of 14 and threw his first career touchdown pass. He also recorded 41 rushing yards. It was an impressive performance by the third-round draft pick.

Willis earned a 126.8 passer rating against the Titans.

In the absence of Love, Green Bay's offense featured a run-heavy scheme on Sunday. The Packers rushed for 261 yards.

It looks as though Green Bay will have to compete at least one more week without their starting quarterback.

Love is on pace to become a top-tier quarterback in the league. In 2023, he threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Love led the Packers as far as the NFC Divisional playoff last season.

After a strong 2023 campaign, Love signed a four-year, $220 million deal, cementing his future with Green Bay.

Once Love returns from his injury, the Packers are poised to be playoff contenders. It wouldn't be surprising if Love led the team to another postseason appearance.

One thing is for certain, the Packers won't rush Love to return since the priority is his long-term health.
