Hall of Famer Blasts Browns QB Shedeur Sanders After NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns finally stopped the brutal NFL draft slide of quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round. After trading up to the No. 144 overall pick, the Browns brought in their second quarterback of the 2025 class.

In the third round, Cleveland also selected Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Now, they have five quarterbacks on the roster, and Sanders has a lot of work to do to prove his talent and find his way onto the field.

Sanders was the talk of the draft. As his slide continued getting worse, the media coverage became even louder.

Following the draft, one Hall of Fame wide receiver has spoken out and blasted Sanders and his family. He thinks that the young quarterback was taught a lesson.

Cris Carter, the Minnesota Vikings legend, spoke out with a tough take about Sanders during an appearance on "Fully Loaded."

"Sheduer and his family overplayed their hands...They taught him a great lesson."

Other reports have also come out since the draft ended that some team owners pulled Sanders completely off of their draft boards. That doesn't mean he wasn't higher on draft boards; it simply means that teams didn't want anything to do with him.

Despite his draft slide, Sanders has an opportunity. After being drafted, Sanders spoke out and showed a very thankful side of himself.

"Thank you to the Browns Organization for giving me a chance," he said. "I knew God had me."

Throughout his four-year college career split between Jackson State and Colorado, Sanders put up big-time numbers. He completed 70.1 percent of his pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and just 27 interceptions. There is no question that he has the arm talent to be an NFL quarterback.

Early in his career, Sanders will need to prove his maturity and leadership ability. If he can do that, he could prove to have a very successful NFL career.

Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel tempered the expectations for Sanders. He thinks that the young quarterback should simply be focused on making the 53-man roster, which is not a guarantee.

"Starting should not be anywhere on his mind," Daniel said. "His whole goal is to make the roster. Your competition is Dillion Gabriel."

All of that being said, the opportunity has been given and Sanders has a chance to earn his keep. Many fans will be watching him closely when training camp and the preseason arrive.
