Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown arrived at Lambeau Field for Week 9's game against the Packers sporting a sweatshirt that read "GREENBAY SUCKS." It will remain to be seen how the NFL deals with this very public diss, but it will likely not be looked kindly upon.

More News: Lions Wide Receiver Breaks Silence on Suspension
It is difficult to see St. John's sweatshirt as anything but a deliberate provocation toward the opposing team. Despite his shirt (which inaccurately spells Green Bay as a single word), St. John actually admitted in an interview earlier this year that he had wanted to be drafted by the Packers and specifically didn't want to join the Lions.
He told ESPN, "When it got to Day 3, I was already mad. I even told my brother [Saints WR Equanimeous St. Brown], 'If there's one team I don't want to go to, that's the Lions. Just, please, I don't want to go to the Lions.' [He] was on the Packers at the time and I was like, 'I want to play with him.'"

Despite that, he was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The wide receiver has had a stellar season following a four-year, $120 million contract extension signed in the offseason. To date, he has recorded 41 receptions for 408 yards and five touchdowns.
In two games against the Packers last season, St. Brown combined for 14 catches, totaling 151 yards and a touchdown. The Lions secured a victory at Lambeau Field with a score of 34-20, but fell to Green Bay at home, losing 29-22. The 6-1 Lions are set to face the 6-2 Packers in a crucial NFC North matchup that carries significant playoff implications. A win for Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Lions would heavily strengthen their position in the division title race.
There will almost certainly be fallout over St. John's sweatshirt after the game, though it is uncertain what the NFL's reaction will be. The situation is reminiscent of one last season when 49ers tight end George Kittle wore a T-shirt that read "F*** Dallas" under his uniform.

At one point, he briefly lifted his jersey to display the shirt and later joked "That was just on my loop man, I [was] just wearing a t-shirt for the game and I don't know how that got on there. I might have been mildly inspired by our guy Gary Plummer who wore that in the '94 NFC Championship game versus Dallas."
Nevertheless, the League fined him a $13,659 fine, apparently under a rule against "personal messages." We'll have to see whether St. John's own personal message gets the same treatment.
