Packers' Malik Willis Brushes Off Potential Revenge Game Vs. Titans: 'I could care less, bro'

For many athletes, facing their former team who traded them away, released them, or did not re-sign them offers a chance for revenge, or at least the opportunity to show their old team what they have missed out on.

This is not the case for Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis.

Willis, who was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Packers in late August, could have the opportunity to face the Titans this Sunday for the Packers' Week 3 game. If Packers quarterback Jordan Love is unable to play Sunday, Willis will get the start against his former team.

Willis does not care about any "revenge game" narratives. Rather, he had only good things to say about the Titans organization.

"I could care less, bro," Willis told reporters Wednesday, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "I think I got paid the whole time I was there. I'm more than blessed for the opportunity they've given me. They brought me into this league, whether those guys are there or not. That organization, they took a shot on me. Miss Amy, they (did) a great job by me, for all I'm concerned."

Willis could easily hold resentment with the Titans for not giving him more opportunities to start, or for drafting quarterback Will Levis just one season after they drafted him, but that is simply not how he has viewed the situation.

Instead, the former third-round pick has taken on a backup role to Love with the Packers since he was traded to Green Bay. With Love working through an MCL injury he sustained during the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Willis earned his first start as a Packer in Week 2.

Willis helped the Packers play complementary football in Week 2 to help lead Green Bay to a 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Willis was efficient and accurate, completing 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards and one touchdown on a 14-yard pass to wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks.

Packers running back Josh Jacobs led the way on offense, carrying the ball a whopping 32 times for 151 yards against a Colts defense that has struggled against the Rams.

If Willis gets the start on Sunday, it will be the fourth start of his young career. So far through his career, Willis is 2-2 and has thrown for 472 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. All three of the interceptions came during his time as a Titan.
